We Are Newton!

A Neighbourhood Anthology

We invite prose and poetry in all genres and forms exploring the neighbourhood of Newton Surrey and what it means to live, work, and play here.

We invite writers of all ages and cultures to help us explore this theme.

The finished book will go in the Little Free Library that is being installed in The Grove in the fall of 2016.


Deadline: Sunday, October 2, 2016

We make final editorial decisions by selection committee on all submitted manuscripts only after the submission deadline.

Electronic submissions please, either Word or PDF to newtonstories@friendsofthegrove.ca

You may submit 1 piece any genre or form up to a maximum of 2,000 words or up to 3 pieces any genre or form up to a maximum of 500 words each.

Original, previously unpublished work only.

Please tell us a little about yourself and your Newton connection in a brief bio (max. 50 words) and ensure that your submission includes your name, address, telephone number, age (optional) and the name that you wish your work to be published under (pen name).

If you wish to submit but are unable to do so electronically, please contact Ellen at 604-652-8279.

In addition to submitting electronically, anyone dropping off a hardcopy of their submission at the Newton Espresso Café will receive a free coffee!
