Today, Our Cedar Bark Poets have been challenged to write a persona poem – a poem in the voice of someone else. Your persona could be a mythological or fictional character, a historical figure, or even an inanimate object.
Are you up yet? COME ON!
I’ve been ringing for SO long
I don’t know why I bother
You set me then seem to want to forget me
I ring and I ring, until even I can’t hear a thing
if you didn’t want up at Seven Thirty, WHY did you set the alarm, just so you could, half awake shoot at me a nasty look dirty
I really am sick of it, and if I get even so much more as a lick of it, I’m going to be ticked, probably a fair bit.
For twenty four hours a day, all I do is count the hours away, I can’t move, on this boring end table I must all day lay
To make matters worse, half way through I have to start over again, for some reason today I’m not feeling at all my usual terse
but have decided instead to spout off in verse
but I somehow feel like I got up on the wrong side of this bed, and after ten minutes of ringing you have not at all the bed fled, in fact to the world you are still quite rather dead. And nothing more than this I can tell you, does mess with an alarm clocks head.
Taken by hand
I am warm to your touch
I’m so often empty
Daily my form tempts ye
You fill me with such
Smooth and sweet
Others like me we greet
Changed but same to all we meet
Like a inanimate chameleon
Ready to go when my top,you put on
My function for you little varies
The complete scent of me,filled,carries
Fulfillment of my ‘being’
We use,each other,I’m agreeing
I like it when your lips press
Folding around my edges
Sighing contentedly ‘Oh Yes’
Sometimes abandoned you
Leave me,lost on tables,ledges
I wait for your return
Knowing all you’ll pour into me
Alone so cold, you make me burn!
I am yours completely
I like our mornings together
Never far dear,like I’m tethered
I find myself..
Quite stirred up,making vows
Stainless steel/ceramic travel mugs
Give me a 2 handed 10 fingered,hug!!
