Authorities in Newton are alerting the public of an impending spike in kindness this coming weekend.
Sources report that kind people will be gathering in The Grove next to the Newton Recreation Centre, 13730 – 72 Avenue from 10:00 to 11:00am on Saturday, March 14. The kindness is expected to spread out to the neighbouring Newton Transit Exchange, Newton Recreation Centre and nearby businesses.
Local resident Barry D. Hatchett has seen things like this happen in Newton before: “Sometimes they serve free coffee or give out freshly baked cookies. I’ve seen people pay bus fare for total strangers and smile for no reason. Once I even got a hug.”
When asked what it is like to live in Newton, Hatchett responded: “Everyone seems to bring a little piece of kindness, and before you know it things are out of control. I don’t know what we can do about it.”
Residents may expect minor transportation delays due to laughter, good coffee and longer-than-expected conversations.
